Dental Assisting Instructor

Responsibilities

Responsible for providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College. In‑person work on campus is an essential function of this position.

Adhere to the approved course syllabus.

Provide students with the course syllabus informing them of course requirements, objectives, means of attainment, and methods of evaluation by the end of the first week of classes.

Use teaching methods appropriate for students of varying educational backgrounds and learning styles, allowing continuous self‑assessment and reasonable opportunity to master course objectives.

Submit syllabi and/or addendums to the Division Office by the end of the first week of class. Post and maintain office hours per institutional guidelines.

Facilitate student evaluation of instruction and arrange for submission of evaluations to the designated office.

Participate in faculty orientation sessions, professional development seminars and activities, supporting the community college’s mission to serve the community.

Perform all other duties appropriate to this position as assigned or directed.

• Associate’s Degree in Dental Assisting and three (3) years of work experience exclusive of teaching.
• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) issued by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in Texas issued by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE).
• Experience teaching in the discipline.
• Experience and ability to incorporate technology into the classroom.

• Part‑time faculty are hired on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the district.
• This is a security‑sensitive position; a successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check in accordance with the College’s policies and procedures.
