Position Summary
The Career Education Specialist supports faculty, staff, and advisors by translating workforce trends and career pathways into practical, accessible career readiness programming and resources. Embedded within the academic student experience, this role advances career exploration and readiness through classroom integration, group-based programming, and cross-campus collaboration-ensuring students connect their academic pathways to career outcomes from their first year through graduation.
Statement of
Duties and Responsibilities:
Career Education Delivery & Student Engagement
* Design and facilitate career exploration activities, workshops, presentations, resume clinics, and networking events aligned to academic disciplines.
* Deliver structured, group-based career education experiences in classrooms, student organizations, and campus events-especially within first-year courses to ensure early student engagement.
* Provide students with opportunities to connect their majors, interests, and experiences to career pathways and professional goals.
Faculty, Advisor, & Campus Partner Collaboration
* Partner with faculty, advisors, and workforce partners to integrate career readiness into curriculum and co-curricular environments.
* Equip faculty with classroom-ready materials (e.g., Blackboard modules, slide decks, discussion prompts, activity guides) that embed career exploration into academic courses.
* Support advisors in guiding students toward student organizations, career-related activities, UTEP Engage experiences, and co-curricular pathways.
* Collaborate with Engagement Officers and campus partners to connect students with employer-facing opportunities (e.g., tabling, networking events).
Resource Development & Program Design
* Develop and maintain career education toolkits and discipline-specific materials informed by workforce trends and labor market insights.
* Collaborate with faculty and institutional partners to identify and align career readiness milestones within academic programs.
* Facilitate the development of structured co-curricular pathways in coordination with campus systems.
Data, Assessment, & Continuous Improvement
* Track and assess participation, student engagement, and impact through tools reporting mechanisms.
* Develop and monitor metrics related to workshops, student reach, resource utilization, and college engagement.
* Ensure consistent messaging, data tracking, and reporting across campus partners to support continuous improvement and program alignment.
Operational Responsibilities
* Coordinate internal scheduling and logistics for career education programming and events.
* Complies with all State and University policies.
* Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility.

Minimum
Education required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum Experience required:
One (1) year of professional experience in career services, workforce development, higher education, student services, academic support, or a related field.
Preferred Education/
Experience:
* Experience working directly with faculty and academic advisors in a higher education setting.
* Experience developing career readiness resources, curriculum-aligned materials, or workshop content for students.
* Familiarity with labor market data, workforce trends, and career pathway frameworks.
* Experience delivering group presentations, workshops, or trainings to students or faculty.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate across academic and administrative units.
