Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College.
- Adhere to the approved course syllabus.
- Provide students with the course syllabus that informs them of course requirements, including specific objectives, means of attaining those objectives and methods of evaluation, by the end of the first week of classes.
- Use teaching methods appropriate to reach students of varying educational backgrounds and learning styles, allowing students to continually assess their progress and master course objectives.
- Submit syllabi/addendums to the Division Office by the end of the first week of class; post and maintain office hours as per institutional guidelines; facilitate student evaluation of instruction and submit evaluations to the designated office.
- Participate in faculty orientation, professional development seminars, and activities to enhance professional development; accept responsibility for professional awareness and growth; support the community college's mission to serve the community.
- Perform all other duties appropriate to this position as assigned or directed.
NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education must be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred.
- Associate's degree and three (3) years of work experience exclusive of teaching.
- Experience teaching in the discipline.
- Experience/ability to incorporate technology into the classroom.
- Experience/ability to teach at the community college level.
- Faculty are hired in a part‑time capacity on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon district needs, and may teach day, evening, and weekend classes. Interested qualified applicants may be placed in a pool that remains active for approximately one year; applicants will need to reapply after that period.
- This is a security‑sensitive position defined under Texas Education Code §51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check as permitted or required by applicable law and in accordance with college policies.
In accordance with federal law and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate must furnish documentation verifying employment authorization eligibility and identity before being employed.
