Responsibilities

Responsible for providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.

Adhere to approved course syllabus.

Provide students with the course syllabus that informs them of course requirements including specific objectives, means of attaining those objectives and methods of evaluation by the end of the first week of classes.

Use teaching methods appropriate for students of varying educational backgrounds and learning styles. Allow students to continually assess their own progress and provide reasonable opportunity for mastery of course objectives.

Submit syllabi and addendums to the Division Office by the end of the first week of class. Post and maintain office hours per institutional guidelines, and facilitate student evaluation of instruction.

Participate in faculty orientation sessions, professional development seminars and activities to enhance professional awareness and growth, and acknowledge the community college’s mission to serve the community.

Perform all other duties appropriate to this position as assigned or directed.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice or a Master’s Degree with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice. A copy of the transcript reflecting this education must be submitted.
  • Experience teaching in the discipline.
  • Experience or ability to incorporate technology into the classroom.
  • Experience or ability to teach at the community college level.
Special Conditions
  • Faculty are hired part‑time on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon district needs; positions may require day, evening, or weekend classes.
  • This is a security‑sensitive position under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; a successful applicant will undergo a criminal background check as required by law and college policies.
