Provide academic guidance and assistance to students enrolled in Competency-Based Education (CBE) courses utilizing a proactive case management approach. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.
Provide academic guidance and assistance to students enrolled in CBE courses through several forms of communication (email, direct messaging, announcements, in-person, and telephone). Responsible for monitoring and following up with student's progress throughout the course in the interest of helping the student finish on time and ensuring they receive the support needed.
Service as a primary resource for users navigating through the Learning Management System (LMS) designated for CBE courses.
Create and maintain a record retention system to document students' status and progress. Provide proactive case management services to include monitoring student progress and risk assessments. Assist in developing and implementing retention initiatives by working with faculty to provide timely feedback to students about their academic progress. Compile data and submit reports.
Provide customer service, technical support, and promote institutional resources available to students to support them in achieving academic success. Assist and participate in New Student Orientations, educational seminars, and workshops for the student, faculty, and staff on CBE.
Maintain knowledge of El Paso Community College (EPCC) programs and courses. Recommend and implement policies and procedures. Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and counseling. Provide advisement based on individual student needs and address barriers to success inside and outside the course.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational and problem-solution skills.
- Ability to navigate through a Learning Management System.
- Ability to generate and conduct presentations.
- Experience working in an educational setting.
- Ability to oversee caseload management system.
- Provide customer service and technical support to students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures.
- This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College's policies and procedures.
- Out-of-town candidates invited for an on-campus interview will be reimbursed for one-half of the transportation cost for travel performed within the United States. The College will arrange and pay for up to two nights lodging.
