Physical Education Teacher

The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for delivering structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate physical education instruction aligned with the school’s mission and student needs. The PE Teacher promotes physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits while ensuring full compliance with school policies, TEFA program requirements, and TAAPS accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
- Plan and deliver physical education instruction aligned with school curriculum and student needs
- Develop age-appropriate activities focusing on:
Motor skills development Strength, coordination, and flexibility
- Team sports and cooperative play
- Health and wellness education
- Adapt activities to accommodate students with learning differences and sensory needs
- Maintain lesson plans and instructional records in compliance with school requirements
Student Support & Classroom Management
- Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive PE environment
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning and physical ability levels
- Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive social interaction
Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure all PE activities are conducted safely with appropriate supervision
- Comply with mandatory reporting requirements under Texas Family Code §261 - Immediately report any injuries, incidents, or suspected abuse/neglect
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Evaluate student participation, effort, skill development, and fitness progress
- Provide feedback to students and communicate progress to administration and families as required
Compliance & Documentation (TEFA / TAAPS) - Maintain accurate and audit-ready records including:
Attendance (aligned with TEFA requirements) Instructional activities and lesson plans
- Follow all documentation and reporting procedures required for TEFA program participation and TAAPS accreditation standards
- Cooperate with audits, compliance reviews, and monitoring activities
- Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA
Professional Responsibilities
- Demonstrate professionalism in conduct, communication, and appearance
- Participate in professional development and required training
- Support school programs, events, and extracurricular activities as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Health Education, or related field (preferred)
- Experience working with children required
- Experience working with students with learning differences strongly preferred

- Must successfully pass background check(s) prior to employment

- Part-time schedule determined by school administration
- Hours may vary based on enrollment, student needs, and program scheduling
- Indoor and outdoor physical activity settings
- May include work with students requiring additional support or accommodations
