Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College. In-person work on campus is essential.
- Adhere to the approved course syllabus.
- Provide students with the course syllabus that informs them of course requirements, specific objectives, means of attaining those objectives, and methods of evaluation by the end of the first week of classes.
- Use teaching methods appropriate for students of varying educational backgrounds and learning styles. Allow students to continually assess their own progress and provide reasonable opportunities to master course objectives.
- Submit syllabi and/or addendums to the Division Office by the end of the first week of class; post and maintain office hours per institutional guidelines; arrange for student evaluations of instruction.
- Participate in faculty orientation sessions, professional development seminars, and related activities to enhance professional development; accept responsibility for professional awareness and growth; support the community college’s mission to serve the community.
- Perform all other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or directed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline related to the teaching assignment or graduate training in developmental education. A completed transcript reflecting this education must be submitted and must show completed coursework and degrees conferred.
- Experience teaching in the discipline.
- Experience and ability to incorporate technology into the classroom.
- Experience and ability to teach at the community college level.
- Position is part‑time, hired semester‑by‑semester on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon district needs. Faculty are hired in a part‑time capacity with day, evening, and weekend classes available.
- This is a security‑sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; a criminal background check is required.
