Job Description:
The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Department of Social Work in the College of Health Sciences invites applications for a 9-month appointment with potential for summer teaching. Job responsibilities include demonstrating excellence in teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate chosen for this position will serve as the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Field Education Coordinator and a Clinical Instructor.
The selected candidate will be responsible for facilitating and overseeing the internship process for undergraduate students with local field agencies. They will act as liaisons between students and local agency supervisors and administer integrated field seminar classes. He/she will be supervised by, report to, and work closely with the Field Education Director to ensure appropriate, high-quality BSW student placements and compliance with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards for the BSW Program.

The UTEP Department of Social Work offers both a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) that prepares students for generalist practice and a Master of Social Work (MSW) that prepares students for advanced practice with a concentration in Social Work in the Border Region.
CSWE identifies Field Education as the signature pedagogy in social work, integrating instruction and socialization where students learn to think, perform, and act ethically within the profession. It is designed to help students build knowledge, develop skills and competencies, and establish a professional identity through the practice of the basic generalist social work methods and techniques learned in the classroom under the guidance, direction, and supervision of agency Field Supervisors.
The BSW Field Education Coordinator can expect to provide leadership in the development, implementation, and oversight of the Undergraduate Field Education Program, including Field Seminar course instruction.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the BSW Field Education Program maintains strict compliance with CSWE EPAS accreditation standards, including the verification of the mandatory 460 hours of field experience per student using the digital platform adopted by the Department of Social Work.
- Work closely with agency supervisors to support and guide students through the field education experience, including problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and compliance with CSWE and UTEP standards of professional behavior.
- Work closely with the Field Education Director in developing and delivering orientations for students and community agency supervisors, aligning with the CSWE Social Work Competencies and providing information on the expectations of both students and supervisors.
- Work with the Field Education Director in establishing and vetting community agency partnerships that satisfy the criteria expected by CSWE for generalist social work practice.
- Responsible for administering up to three (3) Field Seminar classes each semester (Spring and Fall). Field Seminar classes are intended to support and guide BSW students integrating the knowledge and skills obtained in their earlier coursework as they navigate their Field Education experience.
