Clinical Instructor/BSW Field Education Coordinator

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Department of Social Work in the College of Health Sciences invites applications for a 9‑month appointment with potential for summer teaching. The selected candidate will serve as the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Field Education Coordinator and Clinical Instructor, responsible for facilitating and overseeing the internship process for undergraduate students with local field agencies, acting as liaison between students and agency supervisors, administering integrated field seminar classes, and ensuring compliance with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with CSWE EPAS accreditation standards, verifying mandatory 460 field hours using the adopted digital platform.
- Collaborate with agency supervisors to support and guide students through field education, addressing problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and compliance with CSWE and UTEP professional behavior standards.
- Work with the Field Education Director to develop and deliver orientations for students and community agency supervisors, aligning with CSWE Social Work Competencies and clarifying expectations.
- Partner with the Field Education Director to establish and vet community agency partnerships that meet CSWE generalist standards.
- Administer up to three field seminar classes each semester, integrating knowledge and skills from earlier coursework to support student field education.
- Interpret and implement the mandate of field education as derived from the department's purpose, CSWE accreditation mandates, and regional mandates.
- Master of Social Work degree.
- Evidence or potential for teaching excellence in higher education.
- At least 2 years supervising social work students in field education, and capability to deliver field instruction in a bi‑national, bi‑cultural environment.
- Minimum 5 years post‑MSW field practice, with not less than 2 years within a bi‑national, bi‑cultural setting.
- Texas licensed or license‑eligible as an LMSW or LCSW.
- History of involvement in professional organizations.
- Strong record of community outreach to human service agencies.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Record of or potential for scholarly activity.
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem‑solving, and practice skills.
- Ability to work with students requiring special needs under the ADA.
- Current knowledge and proficiency in information and computer technology.
- Self‑directed work and coordination with colleagues.
- History or potential for service activities within the department, college, university, professional organizations, and community.
- Must possess own local transportation, valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel as required.
- At least 5 years of post‑MSW social work practice with mandated bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish).
