Lab Manager- Communication and Performing Arts

Supervise the operations of laboratory facility services and laboratory materials storeroom, which maintain and support a wide variety of laboratory and field programs. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.

Plan, implement, and coordinate the daily operations of campus instructional labs, including staffing, communication, problem resolution, equipment maintenance, and supplies. Supervise the activities of students, faculty, and staff to ensure a safe learning environment. Provides orientation to faculty, staff, and students in the use of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies.

Provide direct supervision and personnel management of full-time, part-time, and work study staff assigned to the laboratory.

Provide support to faculty through instructional assistance. Participate in the evaluation and selection of learning materials and participate in preparation of instructional materials for lectures or labs. Coordinate with instructional liaison to ensure proper academic and technical support is available to students and faculty.

Develop and maintain an inventory system for instructional materials and equipment. Ensure equipment is in good working order. Oversee the performance of routine repair and maintenance.

Recommend short and long-term goals and objectives and operating policies and procedures. Develop budget recommendation and coordinate lab activities within approved budget.

• 1. Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• 2. Ability to lead and manage personnel, including coaching, professional development, team building, and effective delegation.
• 3. Experience providing instructional assistance and laboratory orientation to faculty, staff, and students.
• 4. Working knowledge of developing and monitoring laboratory budgets, including personnel allocations and operational expenses, to ensure compliance with approved funding levels and financial procedures, ability to manage staffing allocations for full-time, part-time, and student employees, as well as budget for supplies, materials, and equipment, and effective coordination of procurement, inventory replenishment, and logistical support for programmatic and divisional events, ensuring resources are used efficiently and responsibly.
• 5. Proficient in organizing events and coordinating logistics to ensure timely execution of live and recorded activities, ability to provide instructional and technical support for faculty, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting of media equipment (sound, video, lighting, digital displays) across multiple departments, while ensuring safe and seamless demonstrations, rehearsals, and performances, and experience working on equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting for Mass Communication, Music, Theater, English, Advertising Graphics & Design, and Dance programs.
• 6. Experience developing and maintaining an inventory system.
• 7. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access for word processing, spreadsheets, and database management, and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition) and audio/music production platforms (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live) to support high-quality media creation and instructional projects.
