Position Summary

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and continuously improving innovative learning solutions that support the UTEPs professional development, leadership development, workforce learning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives. This position applies instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and learning technologies to create engaging instructor-led, virtual, blended, and self-paced learning experiences, and will assist human resources leadership and staff in the development of instructional tutorials and process training.

In addition to instructional design responsibilities, this role serves as the primary developer and administrator for the Office of Human Resources’ website, digital learning presence, online resource portals.

Instructional Design - 50%
  • Design, develop, and evaluate instructor-led, virtual, hybrid, and eLearning programs.
  • Develop facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, videos, assessments, and multimedia content.
  • Apply ADDIE, SAM, or similar instructional design methodologies.
Web Design & Digital Learning Solutions – 15%
  • Design and maintain the Office of Learning & Continuous Improvement website and digital learning portals.
  • Assist in the development and updates to the website for the Office of Human Resources
  • Develop responsive web content using HTML, CSS, and modern web design practices.
Learning Technologies & Multimedia Development – 15%
  • Develop eLearning using educational/courseware development applications.
  • Create videos and multimedia using development/authoring applications.
Stakeholder Collaboration – 10%
  • Manage multiple instructional design projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide project updates to the Director of Learning and Continuous Improvement.
Evaluation, Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement – 10%
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness using assessments and analytics.
  • Continuously improve learning solutions based on feedback and data.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, organizational development, or related field.

Experience: Two years’ experience designing and developing employee training programs.

Experience creating instructor led, virtual, and self-paced learning materials

Experience Conducting Training Needs Assessments And Identifying Skills Gaps

Experience creating knowledge management resources, including process guides, SOPs, and knowledge bases.

Preferred Qualifications

Higher education experience.

Experience incorporating process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement into training design.

Experience designing and implementing enterprise-wide learning and development programs

Experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia, UX/UI, SCORM/xAPI, learning analytics.
