- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm. Flexibility is required on evenings and weekends.

Position Summary
  • Responsible for the review, evaluations, equation, and processing of transfer credit for new, continuing, and returning students. Provides professional assistance and serves as a resource for students, staff, and faculty in determining appropriate interpretation and application of university policies and procedures as they relate to transfer credit. Supports the university and partner community colleges with articulation agreements.
  • Processes and evaluates all college and university transcript (paper and electronic) for transfer students seeking admissions to the university.
  • Reviews and verifies transcripts from national and international institutions as well as verifying the appropriate accreditation status of a transfer institution.
  • Analyzes individual courses and reviews course descriptions to determine initial equivalency with UTEP courses, including core curriculum equivalencies.
  • Determines the nature of credit granted at transfer institutions and converts it to appropriate semester units.
  • Interprets transfer credit evaluation reports for students and academic advisors. Works with the appropriate officials at the academic colleges in determining and approving specific subject matter course equivalencies and in resolving credit equivalency disputes generated by students or advisors.
  • Evaluates military, advanced placements, CLEP, IB, and any other credit by exam.
  • Creates and updates electronic transfer credit and assists with the coordination of services and programs for transfer students.
  • Maintains accurate and timely course articulation information in Banner including articulation catalogs, transfer institutions academic and contact information, grade scales, etc.
  • Reviews study abroad student articulation agreements. Assists in the development of new articulation agreements and in the maintenance of existing ones.
  • Provides excellent service to students, faculty and staff, and others in the university and community.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings; serves on teams and committees as assigned.
  • Attends training and professional development as required.
  • Participates in projects as assigned.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
  • Complies with all State and University policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience:

    Two years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in academic advising, admissions, transfer evaluation, or related field.
  • Experience in handling confidential information.
  • Experience with systematically researching a variety of sources to collect requested information.
