What You Will Do
The Power Generator Technician is responsible for testing, proper operation, and repair of power generation and power frequency converter equipment in support of technical assistance. The Technician will inspect and repair MEIs, advise on preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS), troubleshoot and fault isolate diesel generators (15kW/400
Hz, 30kW/400
Hz, 150kW/400
Hz), perform maintenance, repair, and sustainment operations, and install generator sets and converters for system equipment. The Technician will interface with manufacturers of power equipment on a required basis, perform PMCS coordination, resolve non‑conformance in Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (iMRO), and support generators for the Patriot system.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Graduate of U.S. Army Mast and Electrical Power Plant Maintenance (ASI C9) or U.S. Army Power Generation Equipment Repairer (MOS 52D or 91D) course, or graduate of a technical school or manufacturer’s training on diesel power generation equipment.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience repairing and refurbishing generators, with working knowledge of 15kW/400
Hz, 30kW/400
Hz, and 150kW/400
Hz diesel generators. - Experience with operational and maintenance procedures on power generation frequency converters.
- Basic knowledge of electrical troubleshooting techniques for diesel generators.
- Knowledge of safe work practices for operating and sustaining electrical power generation equipment.
- Ability to procure, store, and issue tools, parts, and publications, and manage maintenance float items.
- Physical capability to lift 50 pounds and work in extreme desert heat environments.
- Secret Security Clearance is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of related experience, or Associate’s Degree with 8 years of experience.
- High School Diploma/GED with 12 years of related experience.
