Solar Site Field Engineer - Southwest Portfolio

We are seeking a Solar Site Field Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of utility-scale solar projects across a Southwest portfolio. This role will provide hands‑on technical oversight at operating and construction sites, working closely with project managers, contractors, operations teams, engineers, and equipment suppliers. Regular travel to solar facilities across the region is required, with occasional overnight stays and work in challenging outdoor conditions.

Key responsibilities include monitoring site activities, inspecting photovoltaic arrays, inverters, trackers, substations, energy storage systems, and balance‑of‑system equipment; reviewing construction quality and installation progress; and verifying that work complies with approved designs, specifications, codes, and safety requirements. You will investigate equipment faults, support root‑cause analysis, coordinate corrective actions, and document findings through clear technical reports. The role will also assist with commissioning, testing, punch‑list management, warranty claims, outage response, preventive maintenance reviews, and performance improvement initiatives.

Maintaining accurate site records, photographs, checklists, and close‑out documentation will be an important part of the position.

Applicants should have a degree, diploma, or equivalent technical experience in electrical engineering, renewable energy, construction, or a related discipline, along with experience in utility-scale solar, power generation, electrical construction, or industrial maintenance. Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, medium‑voltage equipment, protection systems, SCADA, inverter technology, and applicable electrical and safety standards is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be comfortable reading electrical drawings and technical specifications, using inspection and diagnostic tools, and working independently in remote locations.

Strong communication, organisation, problem‑solving, and reporting skills are essential, as is a commitment to safe work practices. A valid driving licence and the ability to travel throughout the Southwest are required.
