Overview
Transportation Engineer III - Advance Project Development - (2600279) with TxDOT El Paso District. In Advance Project Development Office, you will play a vital role in shaping safe, efficient, and innovative projects that impact communities across the State. - Performs transportation engineering work in planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Interfaces with governmental officials and private entities.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations for developing, monitoring, and updating integrated project plans and schedules.
- Performs advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.
- Performs data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plan development.
- Recommends practices and procedures for Critical Path Method scheduling, budgeting, resourcing and baseline management.
- Coordinates on design schematics, assists with capacity and level of service studies and reviews in-house and consultant ITS plans and projects.
- Coordinates phases of preliminary design and revisions in PS&E with districts, divisions, Administration, FHWA, contractors, fabricators, Corps of Engineers and local entities.
- Interprets the Utility Accommodation Policy.
- Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements.
- Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of PS&E submission, special specifications or special provisions.
- Reviews contracts, specifications, plans, and utility billing documents associated with right of way coordination.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science; bachelor’s or higher degree accepted by TX PELS. Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:
6 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience. Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Licenses and
Certifications:
- Valid U.S. driver’s license at the time of application; this position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
* Professional engineers licensed in another state must meet Texas license requirements within six months of hire and sign an agreement as a condition of employment.
