Overview

This Opportunity WSP is growing, and we have opportunities for an Assistant CMT (Construction Materials Testing) Technician to perform field and lab testing for construction projects.

Location:

El Paso, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, perform routine soil sampling/testing and/or laboratory testing of soil.
  • Properly calibrate testing equipment under general supervision; perform soil, concrete and asphalt laboratory testing to confirm compliance with project specifications in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing reports on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures. Review plans, specifications, general notes and shop/working drawings for assigned activities prior to performing assigned duties.
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data. Interact with client representatives (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
What You Will Do

  • Prepare and submit testing reports daily; review plans and drawings prior to activities.
  • Analyze data for accuracy and reasonableness; communicate with client representatives on site.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete project work.
  • Maintain ethical standards and comply with company policies.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times; valid driver’s license required.
  • 3+ years of experience conducting Geotechnical Testing
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
  • Background check is a requirement for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current TxDOT Level 1A, 1B certifications
Physical Demands
  • Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
  • Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
