Huitt-Zollars, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Land Surveyor/PLS located at our El Paso Office. The successful candidate will have at least 5+ years of experience after licensure (PLS) in all phases of land surveying, construction, boundary and topographic surveying.

- Support and manage survey staff of 5 senior Survey Party Chiefs with chain/rod men assistants.
- Provide project management and technical oversight for topo mapping (drone and ground), platting, boundary, ALTA, and construction staking efforts.
- Manages and maintains all instruments and measuring devices including drones, scanners, levels, robotic total stations, GPS equipment, Trimble Business Center, and data collectors.
- Knowledge of Trimble field equipment and data collector software.
- Manage CADD drafting efforts for plats.
- Prepare and finalize plats for public and private clients.
- Download and upload survey data to and from field staff.
- Oversee drone ortho-image and topographic surveys.
- Mentor and train survey staff and provide QC mentorship.
- Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of staff vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- May assist in preparation of survey drawings using AutoCAD software.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Understand, follow, and enforce Huitt-Zollars' business process.
- Productively collaborate with PMs and encourage teams to achieve success and camaraderie.
- Understand and follow HZ QMS and Quality initiatives; assist PMs in ensuring quality control measures are adhered to on projects and daily operations.
- Understand duties and responsibilities, possess necessary job knowledge and technical skills, and maintain job knowledge current.
- Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks for the PM on assigned project tasks.
- Contribute to successful delivery and performance of projects.
- Complete assignments on time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
- Routinely propose and produce more effective ways to accomplish tasks.
- Effectively lead, create, plan, and execute project tasks on a project.
- Sharing Information: Convey up-to-date information in the most efficient and useful manner to appropriate stakeholders.

- PLS in Texas with 5+ years experience.
- Associate's degree.
- Working knowledge of surveying.
- Highly motivated.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and manage survey crews performing topo, boundary and construction staking.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Trimble GPS equipment, Trimble data collectors, and digital levels, and other related equipment.
- Familiarity with Trimble Business Center, Autodesk Civil 3D, Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Excel, etc.) and other similar software used in surveying.

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, type/key-in data.
- May lift and carry up to 50 pounds, hike up and down steep slopes carrying up to 50 pounds of survey equipment.
- Must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
- Employee may be asked to walk on uneven terrain.
- May work in extreme weather conditions.
- Bend, squat, dig monument holes, pound in stakes and rebar monuments.
- Carry and use brush cutting equipment.
- May drive survey vehicle.
