Position Overview

The Communications Technician will be responsible for the organizational repair, maintenance, and sustainment of all communications equipment—including Fixed Site Antenna Mast Group (FSAMG) and Tactical Site Interface Kit (TSIK) towers—in support of Fire Units and Battalions. This short‑term assignment is located in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

• Maintain and repair communications equipment such as FSAMG/TSIK towers, UHF/VHF radios, COMSEC devices, IP routers, servers, and cabling.
• Provide technical assistance and sustainment/refresher training to UAE personnel, including UAE Armed Forces civilian contractors authorized under ITAR.
• Offer technical advice, assistance, and demonstrations to military personnel on testing, maintenance, repair, configuration, and operation of all communications and related equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs with battalion and CMF personnel.
• Provide expertise on communications planning for fixed site and tactical deployments.
• Serve as a Tower‑Mounted UHF/VHF equipment specialist requiring certification as a Communications Tower Worker.

• Minimum of two (2) years experience in repair, operation, and sustainment of UHF/VHF communication systems and networks.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of PATRIOT communication networks.
• Graduate of the Communications / Network Switching Repairer (MOS 25F/25U) course or a technical/ manufacturer’s course of instruction on communication systems.
• Hands‑on experience troubleshooting, fault isolation, disassembly, repair, assembly, and checkout of communication/network switching systems.
• At least one (1) year of network administration and operation experience with TCP/IP, VoIP, and fiber‑optic network operations.
• Proficiency in using engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, commercial test equipment, and general tools.
• Certification as a Communications Tower Worker (climb certification).
• Active U.S. citizenship and an existing, transferable DoD Secret clearance required prior to start date.

• General network knowledge, understanding of TCP/IP operations, and basic Windows networking setup.
• Knowledge of Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE), Single Channel Ground & Airborne Radios (SINCGARS), Enhanced Position Location Reporting Systems (EPLRS), and GPS.
• Tactical internet and satellite communications experience.
• Experience with Raytheon Quality Control procedures and Patriot refurbishment, modification, integration, and system checkout (SICO) processes.
• Strong planning, judgment, decision‑making, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience in International Patriot FMS programs and overseas assignments.

• Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years related experience.
• Associate’s Degree with 8 years related experience.
• High school diploma/GED with 12 years related experience.
