Lead Technician, Mechanical Engineering
The Lead Technician, Mechanical Engineering provides technical support with the troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment and packaging equipment to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics.
Applies technical knowledge with regards to mechanical design, PLCs, Vision Systems, Robots, Servos, etc. to resolve problems in the manufacturing process.
Hands‑on technical knowledge is applied to resolve machine and process issues related to mechanical, electrical, or programming of high‑speed automated equipment. Performs corrective and preventive maintenance and develops initiatives to improve efficiency on all machines under responsibility.
Responsibilities- Hands‑on development improvements to high‑speed automated equipment for the manufacturing of medical devices.
- Performs troubleshooting and maintenance of high‑speed automated equipment.
- Uses technical knowledge and experience in programming and troubleshooting to resolve issues and improve performance of automated machines.
- Robots: FANUC, ABB, Epson and Stäubli (strong experience with pick and place applications).
- Strong knowledge in Rockwell Automation Software:
Studio 5000 (RSLogix 5000), Factory Talk Machine Edition/Site Edition, etc. - Strong knowledge in servo motion control systems such as Kinetix servo drives, Sinamics or similar.
- Advanced process control:
Fuzzy Logix, Profi Bus, Profi Net networks, PID function and functional charts language, Ethernet‑IP / TCP‑IP networks. - Strong knowledge in development and programming of vision systems such as Cognex (Insight 5000, 2000, micro, Keyence CVX, IV, Banner).
- Extensive experience in ultrasonic welding.
- Inkjet printers (Domino, Lynx, Markem Image, Keyence).
- Experience in thermos transfer printers, flexographic printers and digital printers.
- Product and parts identification including RFID and barcoding (software, printers, and readers).
- Strong knowledge in pneumatics, electro‑pneumatic, mechanical knowledge, electronics.
- Follow safety procedures and communicate necessary adjustments to address potential safety concerns, including proper use of PPE.
- Work with BD production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure goals are met.
- Maintain primary communication of performance goals and requirements identified by management.
- Support CAPA activities as required to address systemic issues in the manufacturing and quality systems.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Excellent attitude for service.
- English level B2.
- Teamwork player.
- Commitment to safety by following site safety procedures and applying safety equipment as required for daily tasks.
- High level of mechanical analysis.
- Strong electrical knowledge.
- Electrical diagram interpretation.
- Experience in high‑speed automated equipment.
- Allen Bradley PLC basics programming.
- Automation experience.
