Lead Technician, Mechanical Engineering; 5th shift

Job Description

The Lead Technician, Mechanical Engineering provides technical support with troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment and packaging equipment to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics. Applies technical knowledge with regards to mechanical design, PLCs, Vision Systems, Robots, Servos, etc. to resolve problems in the manufacturing process.

Hands‑on application of technical knowledge to resolve machine and process issues with regards to mechanical, electrical, or programming of high‑speed automated equipment. Performs corrective and preventive maintenance and develops initiatives to improve efficiency on all machines under the employee’s responsibility.

• Hands‑on development improvements to high‑speed automated equipment for the manufacturing of medical devices.
• Performs troubleshooting and maintenance of high‑speed automated equipment.
• Uses technical knowledge and experience in programming and troubleshooting to resolve issues and improve performance of automated machines. Technologies include:
• Robots: FANUC, ABB, Epson and Stäubli – strong experience with pick and place applications
• Rockwell Automation Software:
  Studio 5000 (RSLogix 5000), Factory Talk Machine Edition/Site Edition, etc.
• Servo motion controls:
  Kinetix servo drives, Sinamics or similar
• Advanced process control:
  Fuzzy Logix, Profinet, PID function and functional charts language, Ethernet‑IP / TCP‑IP networks.
• Vision systems:
  Cognex (Insight 5000, 2000, micro), Keyence CVX, IV, Banner.
• Ultrasonic welding, inkjet printers (Domino, Lynx, Markem Image, Keyence).
• Thermos transfer printers, flexographic printers and digital printers.
• Product and parts identification including RFID and barcoding (software, printers, readers).
• Pneumatics and electro‑pneumatic, mechanical and electronics knowledge.
• Follows all safety procedures and communicates necessary adjustments to address potential safety concerns, including proper use of PPE.
• Works with BD production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure that goals are met.
• Maintains primary communication of performance goals and requirements identified by management.
• Supports CAPA activities to address systemic issues in the manufacturing and quality systems.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent attitude for service.
• English level B2.
• Teamwork player.
• Commitment to safety by following site safety procedures and applying required safety equipment for daily tasks.
• High level of mechanical analysis.
• Strong electrical knowledge.
• Electrical diagram interpretation.
• Experience in high‑speed automated equipment.
• Allen Bradley PLC basics programming.
• Automation experience.
