Lead Technician, Mechanical Engineering
The Lead Technician, Mechanical Engineering provides technical support with troubleshooting of automated manufacturing and packaging equipment to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics. The role involves hands‑on mechanical, electrical, and programming support for high‑speed automated equipment, including PLCs, vision systems, robots, servos, and other advanced process controls.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement improvements to high‑speed automated equipment used in the manufacturing of medical devices.
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of robotic, vision, and other automated equipment.
- Apply technical knowledge in mechanical design, PLC programming, and system diagnostics to resolve machine and process issues.
- Carry out corrective and preventive maintenance and develop initiatives to improve machine efficiency.
- Support CAPA activities to address systemic issues in manufacturing and quality systems.
- Work with BD production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to meet performance goals and requirements.
- Follow all safety procedures and communicate necessary adjustments to address potential safety concerns.
- Robots: FANUC, ABB, Epson, Stäubli (pick‑and‑place applications)
- Rockwell Automation:
Studio 5000 (RSLogix 5000), Factory Talk Machine/Site Edition - Servo Drives:
Kinetix, Sinamics, or similar - Advanced process control:
Fuzzy Logix, Profi Bus, Profi Net, PID functions, Ethernet‑IP/TCP‑IP networks - Vision Systems:
Cognex Insight 5000/2000/micro, Keyence CVX, IV, Banner - Welding & Printing:
Ultrasonic welding, Ink Jet printers (Domino, Lynx, Markem‑Image, Keyence), thermos transfer, flexographic, and digital printers - RFID and barcoding systems (software, printers, readers)
- Pneumatics and electro‑pneumatic systems, mechanical knowledge, electronics
- High School Diploma or GED.
- English language level B2.
- Team‑work oriented and excellent attitude for service.
- Commitment to safety, following site safety procedures and using PPE.
- High level of mechanical analysis and strong electrical knowledge, including electrical diagram interpretation.
- Experience with high‑speed automated equipment and Allen Bradley PLC basics programming.
- Automation experience and ability to provide corrective and preventive actions.
