Position Overview
The Commissioning Engineer I supports the creation of complete project commissioning plans, resourcing plans, and execution of commissioning activities, based on a clear understanding of owner, facility, and equipment functional requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Works with Preconstruction Managers and Project Managers at the beginning of projects to define commissioning requirements and establish plans to complete commissioning documentation and other deliverables.
- Assists with creating LOTO plans and start‑up scripts.
- With direction from a senior commissioning engineer, completes detailed procedures and checklists to document that equipment meets specifications and integrates into a functioning system.
- Assists the Commissioning Site Lead with establishing structure, training, and implementing LOTO and start‑up scripts.
- Conducts field surveys.
- Collects and enters data to ensure that equipment conforms to operational standards and requirements.
- Provides support materials or reports to project managers and the commissioning team as required.
- Provides reports documenting equipment functions per project specifications and requirements.
- Provides support for field commissioning activities through research and addressing needs during the process.
- Provides guidance to office and field teams to ensure start‑up activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Works with equipment providers to troubleshoot installed equipment during start‑up, testing, and commissioning.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering - Experience:
3 to 8 years of related experience or 5 to 12 years of electrical commissioning experience - Proficient in PC and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to read one‑lines, schematics, and drawings
- Knowledge of electrical terminology and components
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
- Travel: 100%
- Work schedule:
7AM – 5PM, Monday–Friday, with flexibility to meet business needs
