Marathon Petroleum seeks a Control Systems Engineer to support reliable, safe, and efficient operation of refining and energy assets. In this role, you will design, program, and maintain PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, develop control strategies, and optimize process performance. You'll collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to troubleshoot issues, implement automation upgrades, and ensure compliance with company and industry standards. This position offers exposure to large-scale energy infrastructure, strong safety and training programs, and clear paths for technical and leadership growth in a Fortune 500 environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and program PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems for refining and energy operations.
- Maintain and optimize control systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.
- Troubleshoot control and instrumentation issues and provide on-call technical support as needed.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams on projects, startups, and system changes.
- Develop and implement control strategies, alarm management, and system standards.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, environmental and safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Support capital projects, including scope development, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities.
- Document control system configurations, changes, and maintenance activities in accordance with site practices.
