BASIC REPONSIBILITIES
Provide effective oversight and management with department staff to build relationships with new and existing members while promoting deposit accounts. Implements initiatives to improve the growth of the deposit portfolio while remaining compliant and mitigating risk with the governing accounts. Trains, directs, and monitors performance of the staff to ensure that the membership is being served with high standards of service deliverables at every member touchpoint.

Ensures quality and efficiency for New Account Relationship Center.

TYPICAL DUTIES
  • Develops and implements strategies to optimize deposit growth and revenue generation.
  • Analyzes account trends to identify opportunities for increasing deposit growth.
  • Conducts market analysis to stay informed about competitors and industry trends.
  • Prepares detailed reports on deposit revenue performance and presents to management.
  • Reviews, approves, or disapproves member requests for deposit accounts in accordance with established credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Evaluates and incorporates member due diligence with high member risk assessments to include enhanced scrutiny prior to opening accounts.
  • Utilizes comprehensive analyses on all suspicious accounts requests to accurately execute Compliance and BSA procedures.
  • Uses extensive knowledge of identity theft and fraud policies and procedures to protect members and prevent losses to the credit union.
  • Periodically conducts a risk assessment to identify relevant Red Flags in the method of opening new accounts and maintains appropriate procedures to detect and prevent risk related to these Red Flags.
  • Performance audit review of all new account processes to minimize risk, develop efficiencies, and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Identifies and mitigates risks through various channels by implementing and monitoring fraud prevention strategies and tools.
  • Utilizes high level decisions and overriding authority on new account systems through various channels.
  • Exercises considerable judgment, patience, and empathy while assisting members and employees with their unique situations, escalations, and financial needs.
  • Works closely with New Account Learning and Development Officer to ensure employees are training to follow current processes, procedures, and regulations.
  • Maintains an extensive knowledge in sales to implement a strong, frictionless lending referral program. Utilizes knowledge of remote products to offer members self-serve options.
  • Implements an effective queue management oversight and ensures adequate staffing can service the membership through various channels by using creative scheduling, while maintaining maximum efficiency.
  • Ensures appropriate review of employee performance to ensure items of priority are discussed, addressed, and acted upon in a timely manner.
  • Has the authority to recommend hiring or terminating an employee's employment.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new and efficient procedures and systems to improve productivity and reduce errors.
  • Ensure compliance on a day to day basis within the areas of your responsibility and ensure that employees will receive the necessary training to comply with applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML) addressing Money Laundering and the Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), which apply specifically to their job.
  • Performs any and all other duties as may be assigned or required concerning the general operation of the credit union.
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent of three years similar or related work experience, or Associates degree and one year similar or related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of credit union products and services, with emphasis on special promotions and new services.
  • In depth knowledge of GECU remote channels to include, but not limited to, the GECU website, mobile banking, Zelle, Web and phone application process.
  • Extensive knowledge in new account processes and procedures.
  • Detailed knowledge in BSA/Compliance and credit union regulatory policies.
  • Knowledgeable of the components of loss prevention and fraud (including scams, identity theft and check fraud.)
  • Excellent judgement skills to make quick decisions within or outside written policy and procedures to evaluate and mitigate risk.
  • Enthusiastic and bale to work in a team environment with the ability to promote a high team morale.
