Position Summary
Plans and directs accounting activities within central administration departments.
Statement of
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs Accountant III duties such as assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of accounting systems and accounting controls; conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the University's accounting operation; collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns; prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues; assists in the collection of and preparation of external audit materials and financial reporting.
Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures related to financial management, budget, accounting, and payroll.
Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports.
Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, capital acquisitions, and operating expenses.
Reviews financial statements with management personnel.
Issues written and oral instructions and assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies, determining appropriate corrective actions and procedures.
Participates actively in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report, Operating Budget, and Legislative Appropriation Request.
Assists with various special projects as needed.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, or a related discipline.

Experience:
Four years of relevant experience; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
