40 hours per week, standard Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, flexibility required on evenings and weekends

Position Summary

Plans and directs accounting activities within central administration departments.

Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of accounting systems and accounting controls; conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the University’s accounting operation.
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns; prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
  • Assists in the collection and preparation of external audit materials and financial reporting.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures related to financial management, budget, accounting, and payroll.
  • Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports.
  • Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, capital acquisitions, and operating expenses.
  • Reviews financial statements with management personnel.
  • Issues written and oral instructions and assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies, determining appropriate corrective actions and procedures.
  • Participates actively in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report, Operating Budget, and Legislative Appropriation Request.
  • Assists with various special projects as needed.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and ability to learn and use institutional software systems.
  • Complies with all State and University policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience:

    Four years of relevant experience; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
