Where Financial Leadership Drives What’s Next

GECU is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to help lead the organization through its next phase of growth, performance, and innovation. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, the CFO will serve as a key advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive leadership team. The role has broad enterprise responsibility spanning financial strategy, capital planning, ALM, liquidity, investments, profitability, pricing, treasury, and enterprise analytics, while leading the Controller, Business Intelligence, and Treasury functions.

The

Leader We Are Looking For

GECU is looking for a strategic financial leader and enterprise partner who can connect financial performance to business strategy, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and bring sound judgement to complex decisions. This leader will have the credibility to advise the CEO and Board, the business acumen to partner across the organization, and the leadership presence to build alignment and drive accountability.

For the right leader, this is an opportunity to have a meaningful influence on the direction of a large, growing credit union and the members and communities it serves.

The successful candidate will:
  • Partner with the CEO, Board, and executive leadership team on long-range strategy, financial performance, growth opportunities, and major business decisions.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, capital management, and scenario analysis.
  • Oversee ALM, liquidity, investments, funding strategies, and treasury management.
  • Drive profitability analysis and provide strategic guidance on pricing, products, services, and business units.
  • Provide executive oversight of Business Intelligence and enterprise analytics, strengthening data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Lead financial due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Lead and develop direct reports.
  • Serve as Chair of the Asset/Liability Management Committee and participate on Loan Credit Committees.
  • Represent GECU through community and industry engagement, building relationships and staying connected to issues and opportunities shaping the financial services industry.
The ideal candidate will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; master's preferred.
  • 8–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably within a credit union, bank, or complex financial institution; CUSO experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience across consumer and commercial lending, with a strong understanding of how lending strategy, pricing, credit quality, and balance sheet performance intersect.
  • Strong experience with financial strategy, ALM, liquidity, investments, capital planning, budgeting, risk management, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience leading multiple functions at the enterprise level.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial institution accounting, treasury management, and NCUA regulations.
  • Experience with M&A, enterprise transformation, or other significant organizational initiatives preferred.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, communication, and influencing skills.
  • The judgment and executive presence to navigate complex decisions and competing priorities.
  • A commitment to community and industry engagement and the ability to represent GECU with credibility across a broad range of stakeholders.
