Acceptable Experience and EducationHigh School Diploma, or its equivalent, plus six (6 months) of Criminal Justice experience, with six (6) months of customer service and good interviewing skills.
Or any other equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certificates and Licenses RequiredMust have or obtain by date of hire a valid driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso.
In order to access the County’s network and systems, a personal mobile smart device is required by the hire start date.
Essential Duties- Supports the department’s mission of enhancing public safety, court appearance and the efficient and effective use of the jail pretrial;
- Appears regularly in court and presents to judges regarding defendant supervision performance, PR bonds, or other court-related matters;
- Identifies, screens, interviews and verifies information provided by defendants and processes defendants for release; prepares bond release forms for approval by the courts;
- Maintains a high level of honesty, integrity and ethics both on and off duty, complying with all county and department policies; remains arrest-free and complies with local, state and federal laws or ordinances;
- Maintains a positive team atmosphere and works well with others; participates in team building exercises and nurtures positive relationships with colleagues and coworkers;
- Attends and participates in meetings, trainings, orientations and information sessions;
- Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field;
- Substitutes, if assigned, for immediate supervisor or coworkers during temporary absences by performing delegated duties sufficient to maintain continuity of normal operations;
- Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrates commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts; and
- Creates a high quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Travels to and from court, and other collateral travel with little or no notice, as assigned.
- Works irregular hours, including weekends.
- As members of the County of El Paso Emergency Response System, all El Paso County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to train on emergency response and/or perform certain emergency services at the direction of their supervisor.
- Conducts Pre-release interviews and screens individuals in need of pre-trial supervision or who qualify for a personal recognizance bond or who require conditions added to their surety bond(s).
- Reviews daily jail population report to determine inmates who may qualify for release on personal bond.
- Contacts defendants of court dates by phone, in person or by other electronic means; documents and tracks relevant data.
The CJC Court Liaison provides support services to insure compliance with conditions of their release.
Minimum Requirements:Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: court processes and procedures, legal terminology; the principles and practices of effective customer service;
English usage, grammar, punctuation and spelling; techniques for effective interpersonal communications; modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment to include Windows and Microsoft based products.
Skill/Ability to: learn the organization, procedures and operating details of the County department to which assigned; prepare and maintain appropriate records and general reports; verify and cross check files and data; understand and carry out both oral and written directions; must maintain appropriate courtroom demeanor; and establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with those contacted during the course of work;
