The inter-professional simulation education center (ipec) manager will oversee the center (simulation lab) and its resources, including converting the current provisional accreditation of the sim lab to a full accreditation, finding grants to increase the center's capacity, generating budget reports, developing and coordinating simulation activities (for the allied health and nursing programs), training, maintaining simulators and technology, and implementing short and long-range goals towards development and implementation.
In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.
Manage all lab center logistics, including program development, limited grant autonomy, grantsmanship, planning, and maintaining the program's certification.
Develop and maintain community partnerships and market the ipec to other healthcare facilities to encourage collaborations among other educational partners and work on inter-professional education (ipe) workshops.
Oversee simulation education in collaboration with the discipline faculty members, including short training sessions, in-services, workshops, and conferences. Coordinate and schedule the use of the ipec lab for pre-and post-simulation activities and execution of simulation activities for the multiple allied health and nursing programs and the simulationiq (simiq) training for faculty in the health and nursing disciplines.
Assist with scenarios in collaboration with discipline faculty using the simiq software and features, assist with different simulation scenarios, stream videos, and operate simulation computer hardware and audio/visual recording equipment according to sim standards.
Develop, track, and maintain the ipec lab center resources and inventory, including human simulators, inspections, and equipment purchases. Manage approved budget for the procurement of simulation supplies and equipment and prepare reports.
Promote professional development and collaboration of students, faculty, and staff to include best practices workshops, different simulation scenarios, and program the manikins in simulation education. Conduct an evaluation of the laboratory's effectiveness in providing simulation learning.
Utilize technology to initiate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and carry out simple repairs (refer to manufacturer for repair or el paso community college (epcc) maintenance department), or send equipment out for major repairs. Create troubleshooting documents, simulator checklists, and preventative maintenance plans for simulation equipment. Maintain a tracking log for all equipment at its location, including any relocations.
Develop standardized patient recruitment, training, and utilization program manual for the divisions. Coordinate and conduct orientation and training for simulation center users regarding behavioral expectations, equipment orientation, handling of manikins, policies, procedures, and appropriate safety measures.
Pursue gold standards for accreditation in health care simulation for lab and manager. Stay up to date with current developments in the simulation field, including underlying educational principles. Establish and update lab policies and procedures.
Provide personnel management direction, training, and guidance to staff, including performance evaluation and support regarding professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a successful ipec lab center.
Required qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

2. Working knowledge or experience with simulation operations and manikin functions and operations.
3. Working knowledge of medical equipment and various medical environments.
4. Experience in program evaluation and budget management.
5. Effective leadership, interpersonal, and organization skills for program effectiveness and enhancement of services.
6. Ability to utilize technology associated with the simulation center and troubleshoot simulation equipment.
7. Effective oral and written communication skills.
8. Effective supervisory and personnel management skills.
9. Ability to generate and conduct presentations.
Desired qualifications:
1. Healthcare simulation certification preferred and/or pursuit and receipt of the certificate within two (2) years of hire.
