Work Experience
One year of experience as a Registered Nurse is required, preferably in a hospital-based acute care setting in the following areas: SANE, Trauma, Emergency Department, ICU, Pediatrics, Woman’s Health or other related field.
License/Registration/CertificationCurrent and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
Current BLS training is required.
Completion of the ACLS training within 6 months of being in the department is required.
Completion of the PALS training within 6 months of being in the department is required.
Upon completion of the Texas Office of the Attorney General (TX OAG) clinical hours and court hours, the Nurse will be assigned to a Certified SANE RN to complete the following required sexual assault exams:
- 10 pelvic examinations
- 20 Well Child examinations
- 8 adult/adolescent examinations
- 10 pediatric examinations (6 exams must be of the prepubescent patient)
Certified Adult Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (CA-SANE) and Certified Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (CP-SANE) through the Texas Office of Attorney General (OAG) is required within one year of being in the position.
Education and TrainingBachelor degree in Nursing is required.
Completion of the following trainings required to be obtained within one year of being in the department:
- Trauma Nursing Core Course or Advance Trauma Care for Nurses (TNCC/ATCN)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
