Provides acute health care to infants, children and adolescents. This includes health surveillance as well as assessment and intervention to diagnose and treat illness or disease whether acute or chronic, physical, psychosocial or behavioral. Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with the supervising physician to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulae treatment plans, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, internet test results, provide patient education, prepare medical records and refer patients for other services and care as indicated.

May also provide primary care services as indicated or needed. Reports to Chief Nursing Officer. Refer to Delineation of Privileges for specific scope of practice.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with patient, families, nursing staff, and other departments.
  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
Required Experience

Two years Pediatric critical care and child maltreatment experience required.

License/Registration/Certification
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Licensed in the State of Texas or Compact State
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior or upon hire required.
  • BLS and PALS by the American Heart Association required.
  • Master’s degree or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nursing Program required.
Education and Training

Graduation from an advanced nursing practice program that is accredited by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners or other national accrediting body recognized by Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
