Clinical Psychologist; Mental Health GS

Overview

This position is located at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, TX.

• Assess and provide intervention for individuals with a wide range of chronic medical conditions, and behavioral health issues affecting medical conditions to include assessment and disposition of beneficiaries with acute and chronic risk.
• Consult with primary care providers to select, approve, and document treatment priorities.
• Educate clinic staff on the principles of primary care behavioral health via trainings and briefings.
• Conduct outpatient group classes, stress management, relaxation training, assertive/social skills training, diabetes management, chronic pain, and brief related interventions.
• Assess acute mental and behavioral medicine conditions in beneficiaries.
• Provide individual and group treatment, using various evidence-based modalities to include problem focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psycho educational classes.
• Develop, and implement, professional development activities, coordinates departmental training on PCBH related topics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist (Behavioral Health):

• Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

Specialized

Experience:

• One year of specialized experience including conducting biopsychosocial evaluations, providing individual and group therapy, and consulting with primary care and specialty clinic providers in a medical setting.

License:

• A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent Clinical Psychologist licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.

Preferred:

• One-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Psychology.

Education (Foreign):

• Foreign education must be evaluated and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program.
