Staff Psychologist​/EDRP

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Qualified candidates must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amounts and eligibility periods are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office after review of the application.

• United States citizenship (non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available).
• Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited program, or an earlier accredited program with a primarily psychological dissertation, or a doctoral degree with a re‑specialization program that includes a required internship.
• Completed a professional psychology internship accredited by APA or CPA, or an acceptable alternative program approved by VHA.
• Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
• For non‑licensed applicants: temporary appointment as a graduate psychologist at GS‑11 or GS‑12, supervised by a licensed psychologist for up to two years.
• Board certification in a specialty area consistent with the assignment is required if the internship was not APA/CPA accredited.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Specific grade requirements: GS‑11 requires no additional experience beyond basic requirements; GS‑12 requires at least one year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to GS‑11.

• Conduct psycho‑diagnostic services, including assessments and evidence‑based psychotherapeutic interventions for Veterans.
• Perform psychological, cognitive, and neuropsychological assessments as needed.
• Provide psychoeducation to Veterans, families, and caregivers.
• Develop and document individualized treatment plans with clinical reminders, case notes, and reports.
• Act as a member of the medical staff with full clinical privileges and clinical responsibility for assessment findings.
• Offer crisis‑intervention support for urgent mental health needs.
• Assist the program coordinator in designing and evaluating clinical programs and quality‑improvement projects.
• Collaborate with other health‑care programs to coordinate services.
• Maintain compliance with performance measures and documentation standards.
• Participate in administrative and informational meetings as required.
