Daycare Personal Care Attendant
Bienvivir All-Inclusive Senior Health ("Bienvivir") is a community-based, patient-centered, comprehensive health care delivery system that advocates and promotes quality of life, optimum independence, dignity, and choices in a nurturing environment for frail seniors. Since 1987, Bienvivir has served the frail seniors of El Paso, Texas through the provision of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly ("PACE").
PACE is a unique managed care benefit for frail seniors (referred to as participants) age 55 and older who are certified by the state as needing nursing home level care and who reside in a PACE service area. PACE programs coordinate and provide comprehensive medical and support services so that participants can remain independent and stay in their homes for as long as safely possible.
The Daycare Personal Care Attendant (PCA) will directly serve participants in need of cognitive and physical assistance in the Bienvivir Adult Day Care. PCAs will perform diverse activities throughout the course of a workday; responsibilities include personal care, assisting with ADLs and cognitive intervention skills to facilitate independence, communication, and self-esteem. Services include but are not limited to:
Bathing, Toileting, Transfers, Dressing/Grooming, Feeding, Vital Signs/Weights, Changing Linen, Laundry, Walking/Transferring, Cleaning/Disinfecting, Arts & Crafts, Social Activities, Passing Food Trays, Exercises, Escorting, Changing Oxygen Cylinders.
Responsibilities include performing basic skilled personal care tasks, monitoring and assisting participants, reporting pertinent information regarding the participant's health status, assisting with laundry and cleaning, distributing meals, providing reassurance and support, motivating participants, assisting with van loading and unloading, changing participant oxygen tubing, documenting encounters, assisting with recreational activities, adhering to Bienvivir policies, volunteering for escort duty if equipped, assisting with emergency evacuation activities, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements include a high school diploma or GED equivalency, Texas certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred, CPR certification, Food Handlers Card, one year of experience working with a frail or elderly population preferred, bilingual (English/Spanish), basic computer skills, and the ability to maintain and demonstrate competency skills.
Required SkillsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities include understanding, patience and professionalism in working and communicating with participants, visitors, families, personnel and medical staff, ability to follow Bienvivir policies and procedures, professionalism in the delivery of participants care, ability to manage confidential data according to policy and procedure and HIPPA regulations, ability to work with the elderly and participants with varying stages of dementia, good time management skills, and ability to organize and lead recreational activities.
