Public Health Analyst I

This position supports a government contract and is restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents residing in San Diego, El Paso, or surrounding areas. Documentation is required.

The Public Health Analyst I serves as a tuberculosis (TB) Referral Case Manager, providing case management and program support to the CDC Division of Global Migration Health (DGMH), Southern Border Health and Migration Branch (SBHMB) CureTB Program. The position coordinates and manages transnational TB referrals to promote continuity of care for individuals relocating between the United States and other countries.

The incumbent gathers and reviews patient, clinical and referral information from U.S. state and local TB programs and other referring partners; enroll and maintains patients in the CureTB database; conducts telephone interviews; provides TB and referral-related education, and coordinates referral notification and follow-up with international National TB Program (NTP) or International Health Regulations National Focal Point (IHR NFP), and other domestic and international partners throughout the referral process to facilitate linkage to care and support continuity of TB treatment and follow-up.

The position requires access to classified networks and documents to review, analyze, and produce all-source information, conduct briefings, and participate in classified meetings. The incumbent is responsible for safeguarding personally identifiable information and complying with applicable government policies and requirements for the protection of sensitive information.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Public Health Analyst I:$70,000.00-$75,000.00

Pay commensurate with experience.

Public Health Analyst I

Responsibilities Include:
  • Support the CureTB Program by providing referral case management and programmatic support for transnational TB referrals.
  • Communicate effectively with TB patients in English, Spanish and other languages through interpretation services as needed to provide education regarding TB, continuity of care, the referral process, and applicable public health requirements; conduct telephone interviews in other languages.
  • Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team coordinating and managing transnational TB referrals, including patient linkage to care, referral follow-up, and communication with domestic and international public health partners.
  • Coordinate with appropriate U.S. and international public health jurisdictions and internal and external stakeholders to document referral requirements, respond to inquiries, resolve issues, exchange relevant information and facilitate timely completion of referral activities.
  • Collect, enter, validate, maintain, and continually update patient referral information in the CureTB program database, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple program requests, assignments, and deadlines while ensuring activities are completed in accordance with established quality standards and program requirements.
  • Support program and project evaluation activities by documenting findings, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, and developing recommendations in coordination with program leadership and team members; communicate findings and recommendations through reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Work independently and collaborate as a member of the CureTB team to prepare for meetings and stakeholder engagements by identifying, organizing, and developing and briefing materials, presentations, talking points, background documents, and other materials in collaboration with communications and programmatic teams.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across technical areas, job categories, organizational levels, and domestic and international public health programs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to changing program priorities, emerging public health needs, workload demands and evolving operational requirements.
  • Support other branch and team activities as directed by the supervisor, including activities related to the Binational Border Infectious Disease Surveillance Program, Port Health Stations, and other public health initiatives or duties as assigned.
Public Health Analyst I Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, or other related field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; preferred fluency in both English and Spanish is required
  • Exceptional organizational and coordination skills, including the ability to manage and respond to multiple requests, assignments, priorities, and deadlines in a timely manner
