Job Summary
Provides professional leadership and advanced knowledge in the practice of lactation management. Assesses patient’s needs, diagnoses lactation problems, plans and implements intervention, and evaluates outcomes.
Responsibilities- Conduct prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluate educational outcomes.
- Provide outpatient care, consultation, and home visits for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties.
- Serve as consultant for physicians and other healthcare providers concerning lactation as it relates to patient’s health problems.
- Education:
Academic degree in nursing or food and nutrition; preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or food and nutrition. - Experience:
Experience working with Mother-Baby couplets in low and high-risk situations. - Certifications and Licensure:
Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice a profession (such as Registered Nurse, Registered Dietitian) as required by law; must be certified as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC); AHA BLS.
