The HR Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering strategic human resources projects that enhance organizational effectiveness and employee experience. This role ensures projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with HR and organizational goals. The HR Project Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, manages resources, and applies project management methodologies to implement HR initiatives such as technology upgrades, process improvements, compliance programs, and employee engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution – 40%- Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for HR initiatives.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Partner with HR leadership to identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Support implementation of HR technology platforms and ensure smooth adoption.
- Apply Lean or Six Sigma principles where applicable to improve efficiency.
- Track project performance metrics and prepare status reports for leadership.
- Use data analytics to measure project impact and inform decision-making.
- Facilitate communication between HR teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Utilize management strategies to ensure successful implementation and employee buy‑in.
- Ensure projects adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with HR initiatives.

Required QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or closely related field
and
Experience:
Three (3) plus years of project management experience, preferably in HR or related functions.
Experience managing projects using established Project Management Office (PMO) methodologies, frameworks, including project planning, scope management, risk identification, and stakeholder communication.
Experience supporting cross-functional projects from initiation through implementation, including developing project schedules, monitoring milestones, coordinating resources and reporting project status to leadership
Preferred QualificationsProject Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.
Lean Six Sigma or HR certifications (SHRM-CP, PHR) a plus.
Experience in HR project management in a higher education environment managing large scale organizational change projects.
