Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and technical support for computer‑assisted learning programs in Academic Computing Services Labs.
- Orient, guide, and tutor students in the use of equipment and programs.
- Assist students with course assignments, monitor labs, and orient them on equipment and software.
- Provide coaching, tutoring, training, and feedback as needed.
- Replenish supplies such as paper and toner.
- Ensure all lab equipment is working properly, labs are clean, and procedures are followed.
- Offer courteous and professional user support by answering questions.
- Document and attempt to resolve repetitive problems.
- Maintain equipment such as printers, monitors, hardware, and keyboards in good working condition.
- Maintain, install, and troubleshoot software and hardware issues.
- Assist with classroom computer malfunctions, perform minor repairs, and prepare work orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree and two (2) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Transcript reflecting completed coursework and degrees conferred must be submitted for consideration.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication.
- Familiarity with computer hardware and software to diagnose issues.
- Knowledge of principles of computer maintenance and preventive maintenance.
- Proficient computer/keyboarding skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to plan, multi‑task, organize, and prioritize work based on student demand.
- Adherence to policies and procedures and support for the organization’s goals and values.
- Knowledge of good customer service practices and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with staff and students.
- This is a security‑sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will undergo a criminal background check in accordance with applicable law and the college’s policies.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
