Buyer​/Planner

Job Overview

Plans and prepares production schedules for the business unit. Translates orders into a sequential work schedule and consults with department supervisors to determine progress and completion dates.

Complies with and communicates reports on progress, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.

• Interface with internal organizations and work closely with personnel to develop alternative suppliers and technologies.
• Initiate cost savings.
• Evaluate and negotiate vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers.
• Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
• Procure assigned commodities, services, and materials used in plant operations and production.
• Maintain supplier relationships, identify and develop new suppliers that support goals of improved quality, excellent delivery, and reduced cost.
• Review MRP daily and issue TO, WO, and PO in a timely manner.
• Confirm TO and PO from vendors and revise contracts (PO & TO) accordingly.
• Follow up with vendors for on-time delivery of TO and PO.
• Review Reverse MRP to prevent overstock.
• Purchasing.
• Inventory procurement.
• Customer support.

• Bachelor's degree and/or 3-5 years of experience in the field or a related area preferred.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with purchasing, logistics, supply chain management, and contracts.
• Proficiency in Windows-based PC software applications.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• 2-4 years of experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.
