Director of Operations - 3PL / Warehouse Distribution Industry

Are you a hands‑on operations leader who thrives in fast‑paced distribution environments? Do you enjoy building strong teams, improving processes, and partnering directly with customers to drive results?

Our client, a rapidly growing third‑party logistics (3PL) organization, is seeking a Director of Operations to lead a high‑performing customer operation in El Paso, TX. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven logistics leader to take ownership of a critical site, develop a talented team, and make a meaningful impact within a growing organization.

The Opportunity:

The Director of Operations will oversee a 400,000 sq. ft. single‑customer distribution facility supporting a major consumer electronics customer. This leader will be responsible for driving operational excellence, developing the leadership team, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring the site continues to deliver exceptional service.

This role requires a leader who is comfortable being visible on the floor, engaging with employees, solving problems in real time, and balancing strategic initiatives with hands‑on execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all day‑to‑day operations for a high‑volume distribution facility
  • Manage and develop site leadership, including managers and supervisors
  • Provide leadership across hourly, non‑exempt, and temporary workforce teams
  • Drive operational performance through KPIs, process improvement, and accountability
  • Build strong relationships with customers and serve as the primary onsite operational partner
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and service levels
  • Develop future leaders and create a culture of continuous improvement
  • Partner with corporate leadership to support growth initiatives
Qualifications

Required:
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience within 3PL, warehousing, distribution, or fulfillment operations
  • Experience managing large‑scale warehouse operations with hourly teams
  • Proven ability to lead managers, supervisors, and frontline employees
  • Strong customer‑facing communication and relationship management skills
  • Hands‑on leadership style with a strong floor presence
  • Experience managing operational KPIs and driving continuous improvement
Preferred:
  • Experience supporting consumer electronics, retail, or high‑volume distribution operations
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills
  • Experience building leadership development programs or growing internal talent
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and learn the operation firsthand
Must‑haves
  • 3PL experience, or strong warehouse / distribution operations experience at volume.
  • Real floor presence - visible, hands‑on‑adjacent leadership, not a back‑office director.
  • Customer‑facing polish - professional communication; can manage an in‑building customer.
  • Experience managing salaried managers/supervisors and a non‑exempt/hourly, temp workforce.
Nice‑to‑haves
  • Both strategic and hands‑on - willing to get in and learn what they don't know rather than only direct.
  • Strong at developing people / leadership development (Robin built out a "university" and dev programming; the site sits somewhat distant from corporate, so someone who grows their own team is a real plus).
  • Spanish speaker
Why Join?
  • This is an opportunity to join a growing logistics organization that is expanding rapidly across North America.
The company has:
  • Added more than 1M+ square feet of operational capacity
  • Built a reputation around service, flexibility, and operational excellence
  • Created significant career growth opportunities as the organization continues scaling

For the right leader, this role offers the opportunity to grow beyond a single‑site operation and develop into broader multi‑site leadership opportunities as the company expands.

If you are an operations leader who enjoys building teams, improving performance, and making an impact, we would love to connect.
