Controller – Battery Concepts International (BCI / BCIAL)

Location: El Paso, TX (hybrid/remote possible with occasional Mexico travel)

About the Opportunity:

Battery Concepts International (BCI / BCIAL) is a $7.8M revenue powerhouse and the exclusive Hawker Power Source wholesale representative/dealer across the US-Mexico border. While we operate on a broker/dealer model, our efforts currently drive $20M USD in annualized booked orders at the global level. We supply batteries and chargers to warehouses and industrial clients, install racking systems, repair forklift equipment, train aggressive sales teams, and are now aggressively expanding into battery energy storage systems (BESS) for backup power.

We’re a fast-moving, sales-driven company with real 10X growth ambitions. The right Controller will play a pivotal role in scaling us from our current base to a $20–30M+ business in the next 3–5 years — building the professional finance function from the ground up.

Current State & The Real Opportunity:

Right now we’re running on Quick Books with manual processes, inconsistent close schedules, and limited visibility into product-level profitability. If you’re a strong controller who gets excited about redesigning finance operations, leading a major Net Suite migration, and creating real-time KPI visibility that actually drives decisions, this is your chance to build something lasting. The right person will turn this “mess” into a scalable, best-in-class finance operation that supports explosive growth.

You will report directly to John Kenemore, our founder and CEO — a hands-on, sales-driven operator and visionary who built this business through aggressive growth. What Success Looks Like:

We’re aligned and serious about this hire. In the first year you will deliver:
Net Suite fully live and unifying all books within 6 months

Monthly close reduced to under 5 business days by Q3

Real-time KPI dashboards deployed to sales and operations teams by year-end

Clear, actionable visibility into margins, cash flow, and cross-border performance

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the full Net Suite rollout: unify US and Mexico books, automate inventory, commissions, and cross-border compliance — creating a scalable platform for our BESS expansion. Redesign core processes: streamline monthly closes, track true product-line profitability, and forecast credit needs.

Design and own real-time KPI dashboards (sales close rate, repair efficiency, install turnaround, BESS pipeline) with per-person visibility and feedback.

Own the full financials: budgets, 60–70% gross margins, audits, taxes, and linking variances directly to operational actions.

Lead and develop the finance team: hire, coach, review, and retain bookkeepers and invoicing staff.

Support aggressive scaling: structure credit lines, negotiate vendor terms, and optimize cash flow for growth. Navigate our unique cross-border operations in Juárez, Mexico (maquiladora exposure, transfer pricing, peso/dollar reconciliations, and US-Mexico compliance).

What You Bring

5+ years of finance leadership in distribution or service businesses Proven experience leading ERP migrations (Net Suite strongly preferred)

Strong analytics and KPI/dashboard expertise

Team leadership experience — you’ve hired, developed, and led small finance teams CPA or equivalent strongly preferred

Bilingual Spanish-English preferred (cross-border experience is a big plus)

$90K–$125K base (depending on experience) + performance bonus targeting 10–15% tied directly to gross profit and margin improvement, Net Suite milestone delivery, and overall company growth metrics.
