We are hiring a Site Fire Chief with a passion for firefighting and patient care combined with the drive to succeed and deliver high-quality service.

Contingent Position Notice

This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment is conditional on Rural Metro Fire / Capstone being awarded the referenced contract and is subject to successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, including background check, drug screening, and any client- or contract-specific clearances. Start date will be determined following contract award and may be adjusted based on the contract's period of performance.

Job Summary:

Site Fire Chief plans, organizes, and directs the emergency service operations of a full-service Fire/EMS/Rescue emergency response agency. Accountable for the overall support and direction within the area of responsibility. Directs planning, organization, and control of assigned facility in accordance with all company philosophies, strategies, goals, objectives, principles, and procedures. Responsible for direction and supervision of all assigned personnel including scheduling, supervising, and training staff, responding to and directing at emergency scenes, conducting prevention activities, and completing special projects as assigned.

This is considered a confidential, safety sensitive position and is subject to both the Company's and the Client's Industrial Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • County, State and/or National EMT-B credentials (highly desirable).
  • Must possess AHA CPR/AED credentials.
  • Physical Agility Fitness Test (Initial Hire and Annually).
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, OR ten years related experience and training, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven leader with Chief Officer experience and a history of managing a field operations team.
  • Proven ability to develop annual operating plans with clearly defined objectives and target markets.
  • Proven and consistent track record for meeting and exceeding P&L targets.
  • Proven knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations as applied to the fire and emergency service industry.
  • Proven knowledge of "best practices" information sources and organizations available to fire service leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Abides by the Company's rules, regulations, policies, procedures, mission, guiding principles.
  • Conducts crew inspections, reviews reports, and investigates complaints to ensure compliance with Company policies, rules and procedures.
  • Maintains clear, timely, and accurate communications between company/customer management, administration staff, and personnel to ensure that standby services and support activities achieve company objectives.
  • Keeps superior officers adequately informed of problems and proposes alternative solutions for consideration.
  • Assists the Company Regional Director in preparing the resources required to provide high level services.
  • Projects a positive image to individuals and groups as a professional, competent and helpful manager.
  • Prepares timely and accurate reports as assigned for the Regional Director regarding the work activities of their subordinates, and activities.
  • Assures that all personnel under their supervision are adequately trained and appropriately informed regarding their duties and responsibilities.
  • Works as a team member within all company divisions, personnel, and activities.
  • Plans and oversees quality of the operations and field crews, including the monitoring of work standards, productively, acceptable work quality and service.
  • Provides technical assistance to Captains and other staff in the completion of their work and personally handles or directs complex tasks or multi-crew projects.
