The Aggregate/Asphalt Plant Operator II (Site Supervisor) works from an uncompromising focus on the health and safety of all personnel on site for each business line. The Plant Operator II will manage all aspects of plant sites, including safety, environment, operations, maintenance, inventory management, performance, quality, financial performance, employee relations, plant image and community relations. Must have the ability to exercise discretion and good judgement in supervising the hourly workforce.
This hands‑on leader will work the Area Manager to monitor and optimize plant production and costs through strong leadership and experience.
- Cultivate a positive safety culture at the plant location and comply with company policies and safety standards.
- Lead internal and external personnel in safely executing all activities on the site, including extraction, plant operations (pre‑work inspections, safety equipment maintenance and operation, MSHA compliance, etc.), contractor activities, and product distribution.
- Focus on increasingly innovative production methods, scheduling and staffing of personnel and managing production processes to achieve volume goals while optimizing cost; including uptime, tons per hour, overtime/wage control, and contractor management.
- Plan and lead execution of all plant maintenance to achieve a balance between maintenance spend and equipment operational availability, prioritizing repair spend and preventive maintenance to maximize equipment operational life.
- Maintain required recordkeeping for the assigned aggregate and/or asphalt site, according to environmental, MSHA and/or OSHA regulations.
- Work with QC team to establish target production of in‑spec products that meet applicable testing and reporting requirements.
- Work with vendors and procurement on needed parts and services, balancing production needs with costs and lead times.
- Work with internal and external groups to comply with environmental and reclamation targets/obligations and company guidelines.
- Assist with accident and environmental investigation/compliance.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience in asphalt, and/or manufacturing and delivery in the building materials industry.
- 1 year of supervisory/management experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Experience in planning and budgeting.
- Experience and knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of heavy mobile and fixed mining, asphalt production, and related equipment.
