Position: READY MIX QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN

What you will do:

  • Safely and efficiently collect samples for testing aggregates, concrete, and asphalt materials.
  • Perform sampling, testing, and reporting procedures according to established protocol, having the ability to test material samples and record test results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform calculations, provide documentation, and communicate data.
  • Maintain a daily record of test results, prepare daily reports, and submit results to the project lead technician or main lab supervisor. Advise supervisor of unusual test results or results that do not meet specifications.
  • Ensure work performed meets department standards, participate in continuous improvement, observe best practices, manage time effectively, and troubleshoot/analyze root cause failures.
  • Verify outside construction materials testing laboratory results and maintain accurate, timely records of test data, product quality, and defective materials.
  • Use Lastrada as the main software for the lab on the aggregate/asphalt division.
Experience and abilities you will need:
  • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications and knowledge of ready‑mix and asphalt manufacturing design, processes, and equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Three (3) years of laboratory testing experience in ready‑mix concrete and construction aggregate properties.
  • One (1) year of asphalt testing experience.
  • Ability to interpret a broad range of technical instructions and to handle complex variables.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and software packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and availability to work at any time on any day.
  • TXDOT level 1A HMA and AGG 101 certification or equivalent DOT certification such as TTCP Asphalt or Aggregate certifications.
