2nd Shift Role – Differential Pay

Pay
: $1.25 per hour.

Training
: 4–6 weeks on 1st shift (6:00 am–2:30 pm). Normal shift: 3:00 pm–11:30 pm.

Responsible for the effective utilization of materials, equipment and systems in the assembly of moderately complex mechanical and electrical products, including the mechanical assembly operation for the final assembly and pack out of the Switchboard unit.

• Read and understand moderately complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, bill of materials and schematics.
• Assemble medium sized to very large parts.
• Complete the assembly process for the Switchboard product.
• Install nameplates and labels on the final product.
• Perform final checks for mechanical assembly product conformance to customer requirements.
• Perform rework on assembly operations performed incorrectly earlier in the assembly process.
• Perform basic to moderately complex mechanical troubleshooting including quality issues, engineering issues or material issues.
• Continuously lift parts weighing up to 40 pounds, using alternative lifting methods if beyond 35 pounds (e.g., overhead crane, lift devices).
• Utilize a wide variety of hand tools, air tools, and measuring equipment.
• Use the computer system for clocking start and finish of job.
• Take responsibility for own product quality, measuring techniques, tool use and care.
• Evaluate and perform complex troubleshooting and obtain support from supervision and engineering as needed.
• Establish and maintain a safe and healthful working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to take and successfully pass the appropriate Work Keys assessment.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
• Experience with basic hand tools, air tools, gauges and torque wrenches.
• 1–2 years of mechanical assembly experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

• Excellent vision, corrected or natural.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly throughout the day; requires excellent physical condition.
• May use overhead cranes or lifting devices when product is heavier than 40 pounds.
• Requires ability to handle heavy parts during final assembly operations.
• Job cannot be performed alternating sitting and standing.
• Ability to perform continuous repetitive motions with hands and arms.
• Requires ability to reach overhead, pull, push, bend to perform work.
• Requires independent thought and judgment.
• Requires creativity and initiative to evaluate and resolve problems.

• Safety shoes, safety glasses and other PPE are required.
• Work is performed in an assembly line environment in a manufacturing plant.
• Noise level is within normal and acceptable standards for the environment.
• Proper use of various hand tools and cutting tools is required.
• Heavy lifting is required throughout the shift; improper lifting can result in muscle strains.
• Requires ability to work overtime on short notice.
