Experienced Sewing Machine Operator

The Sewing Machine Operator Level I performs basic sewing operations using standard industrial sewing machines to assemble small garment components and simple seams. Operations involve short, straight stitching and limited curves with low complexity.

• Operate single-needle sewing machines to assemble small garment parts.
• Sew together two pieces of fabric using straight stitching.
• Perform sewing operations with straight seams up to 30 inches.
• Perform sewing operations with curved seams up to 10 inches.
• Operate basic serge machines (3-thread) for small components such as flaps.
• Perform operations on bartack machines, button machines, and eyelet machines.
• Use double-needle machines for simple items such as tabs and small bags.
• Maintain production quality standards.
• Report machine malfunctions and maintain safe operations.

• Education:
  
  High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Experience:
  
  Basic knowledge of industrial sewing machine operations preferred but not required.

  Good mechanical aptitude to make machine adjustments.

• Occasionally stands and walks.
• Frequently sits.
• Continuously gasps (incorrect, but kept from original text).
• Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds.

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
