Dal-Tile is currently seeking a Kiln Operator to join our MFG TEAM! As the Kiln Operator we need someone to monitor movement of tile through the kiln firing process for the production of the ceramic tile manufacturing process.
Primary ObjectiveMonitors movement of tile through the kiln firing process.
Major Function and Scope- Monitors tile entering and exiting the kiln to ensure process is operating efficiently.
- Inspects tile for defects.
- Records temperature of kiln every hour during shift.
- Collects tile samples for lab.
- Monitors equipment or processes and reports problems to supervisor.
- Follows ISO operating procedures and control plan.
- Helps maintain a team environment by cooperating and communicating with team.
- Ability to maintain a clean work station, conform to all safety and health requirements, and must be at work station at shift change.
- Keeps area safe, clean and organized.
- Complete all required training, including ergonomic, safety, health and environmental.
- Identify and adjust workstation arrangement, work practices, and workflow to reduce risk factors.
- Report issues to supervisor/manager when unable to control risk factor/s.
- Report symptoms of injury/illness and concerns when first noted.
- Participate in incident investigation.
- Other duties as required.
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Competencies- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Good record keeping skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Accurate measurement capability.
- Ability to understand and speak basic English.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate may be required to sometimes sit, climb or balance. The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position includes close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures. The noise level is usually loud.
