Job Description
The Equipment Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance and reliability of high-speed automated equipment used in the manufacturing of medical devices. This role includes performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, while supporting production teams with technical issues. The technician will also mentor associates, promote continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with BD quality systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

- Perform hands‑on maintenance and improvement activities on high-speed automated equipment.
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance audits and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment; upscale major issues to the manufacturing technical lead.
- Operate, set up, adjust, and perform changeovers on production equipment.
- Monitor and maintain production quality, minimize downtime, and reduce waste.
- Document PM audits and corrective actions electronically in SAP.
- Analyze equipment failure trends and update PM work orders accordingly.
- Maintain equipment to meet quality and quantity standards, including cleaning and adjustments.
- Keep detailed equipment logs for downtime and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate major repairs with Maintenance, Engineering, and other technical teams.
- Ensure completion and closure of PM tasks in SAP.
- Verify machine functionality and safety guards before operation.
- Monitor production machinery for optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE usage, and report hazards promptly.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve operational goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with GMP and 5S standards.
- Utilize hand tools and basic electrical/mechanical tools for maintenance tasks.
- Use technical knowledge and experience in programming and troubleshooting to resolve issues and improve the performance of the automated machines. Technologies include:
- Robots: FANUC and Stäubli – pick and place applications
- Rockwell Automation Software: Studio 5000, Factory Talk Machine Edition, etc.
- Servo motion controls: Kinetix Servo drives or similar
- Vision systems: Cognex (Insight 5000, 2000, micro, Keyence CVX, IV)
- Manufacturing equipment: Ultrasonic welding, Ink Jet printers (Domino, Lynx, Markem Image, Keyence), thermos‑transfer printers, flexographic printers, and digital printers
- Other skills: Pneumatics, electro‑pneumatic, mechanical knowledge, electronics
- Shift: 3rd Shift
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associate Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Technology
- Experience: 3 years in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Communication: Basic oral and written communication skills
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Problem‑Solving: Basic troubleshooting and decision‑making skills
