Lead Tech Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities- Hands‑on development improvements to high‑speed automated equipment for manufacturing of medical devices.
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of high‑speed automated equipment.
- Use technical knowledge and experience in programming and troubleshooting to resolve issues and improve performance of automated machines with technologies such as robots (FANUC, ABB, Epson, Stäubli with pick and place applications), Rockwell Automation software (Studio 5000, Factory Talk Machine Edition/Site Edition), Siemens Automation software (Step 7, TIA Portal, WinCC), servo motion control systems (Kinetix servo drives, Sinamics), PID functions and functional charts, and advanced process control (Fuzzy Logix, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet‑IP/TCP‑IP).
- Program and troubleshoot vision systems (Cognex Insight 5000/2000, micro, Keyence CVX, IV, Banner).
- Operate ultrasonic welding and Ink Jet printers (Domino, Lynx, Markem Image, Keyence), thermos transfer printers, flexographic printers, and digital printers.
- Manage product and parts identification using RFID and barcoding (software, printers, readers).
- Apply pneumatics, electropneumatics, mechanical, and electronics knowledge.
- Follow safety procedures and communicate necessary adjustments to address potential safety concerns, including proper use of PPE.
- Collaborate with BD production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to meet goals.
- Maintain communication of performance goals and requirements identified by management.
- Support CAPA activities to address systemic issues in manufacturing and quality systems.
- Work on a flexible schedule and cover 2nd and 3rd shifts as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a highly automated environment.
- Ability to work at the primary location in ElPaso, TX (Northwestern Dr.).
- Willingness to work up to four days a week on site with flexibility for shift coverage.
- Current full vaccination against COVID‑19 (or proof of tolerance as required by location).
- Compliance with BD’s Workplace Accommodations Policy and COVID‑19 testing if required.
