Overview
Dal-Tile is seeking a Kiln Operator to join our MFG TEAM. The Kiln Operator monitors movement of tile through the kiln firing process as part of the ceramic tile manufacturing process.
ShiftD-Shift: Wednesday 12:00AM-6:00AM;
Thursday - Saturday 6:00PM-6:00AM
- Monitors movement of tile through the kiln firing process.
- Inspects tile for defects.
- Records temperature of kiln every hour during shift.
- Collects tile samples for lab.
- Monitors equipment or processes and reports problems to supervisor.
- Follows ISO operating procedures and control plan.
- Helps maintain a team environment by cooperating and communicating with team.
- Maintains a clean work station, conforms to all safety and health requirements, and must be able to be at work station at shift change.
- Keeps area safe, clean and organized.
- Completes all required training, including ergonomic, safety, health and environmental.
- Identifies and adjusts workstation arrangement, work practices, and workflow to reduce risk factors.
- Reports issues to supervisor/manager when unable to control risk factors.
- Reports symptoms of injury/illness and concerns when first noted.
- Participates in incident investigations.
- Performs other duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Good record keeping skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Accurate measurement capability.
- Ability to understand and speak basic English.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate may be required to sometimes sit, climb or balance. The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures. The noise level is usually loud.
